He says, True! queasyvery, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am: and why will you say that I am mad? His sanity is questioned from the ver y beginning. Then he goes on to suck up the old mans vulture eye that eventually safaris him to murder. This apparently is the precisely thing that drives him to do so. He sits up for eight straight nights and watches the old man sleep until one night the man un accommodateeds his eyes and the pale blue eye is exposed. This is when the narrator is drive to kill him.

He expresses his belief when he declares, It was wide blossom outwide, wide open-- and I grew furious as I gazed upon it.
